Our proposal to investigate the genetic diversity of Southeast Asian strains of the bacterial wilt pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum was awarded among six other proposals funded in 2023 by the College of Arts and Sciences. This funding will be vital to continue our lab's previous work on isolation and characterization of R. solanacearum strains in low-land and high-land regions in Southeast Asia. Cheers to a productive summer!
The Office of Research Communications, Development & Learning announced today that we are awarded the Research & Scholarly Development Grant jointly with the Audia lab (College of Medicine). "RSDG grants are intended to stimulate interactions across disciplines, departments, colleges, and programs. The funding is designed to facilitate preliminary data collection or planning efforts to assist in the development of competitive proposals that will attract external funding" - RCDL Office. With this grant, we will launch a cell biology & microbiology study to understand virulence factors that facilitate human pathogens' colonization of plants, which is one of the leading causes of food-borne illnesses.
